ABSTRACT:
The concept of just in time was created by the founder of Toyota. The meaning of just in time is that a manufacturer, manufacture a particular item only when it is needed and only in the amount that is needed or ordered. The object of just in time is to work intelligently so that only minimum inventory is needed (so that this system is also called as just in time inventory system) and eliminate the wastage and reduce the expenses. By adopting just in time model manufacturer can reduce their overhead expenses on the other hand they are always ensure that material or parts should be promptly available to manufacture the product. So, this system allows a company's customer to be better served and at the same time lowering the cost of doing business. Companies that employ the just in time inventory model may be able to reduce the number of warehouses or even eliminate all those warehouses altogether as to maintain the warehouses can be very expensive. In just in time model an efficient supply chain delivered at lower cost throughout the manufacturing process and those lower cost be passed to the customer, so customer are also be happy by getting good even best quality at reasonable cost. One more benefit of Just in time model is, it makes it easy to respond quickly if the needs of customer change. Just in time model can be implemented in any type of manufacturing industry even in fast food restaurant, publishing Industries etc. But it is widely used in four-wheeler manufacturing industry. The most important aspect of just in time is the elimination of raw material, inventory and product storage cost
